Miracles In Marshfield! Søster Schneck Week 10
Hello, hello!
This week was the longest week ever but SO good and full of so many miracles!!
I finally feel like Sister Dozier and I are getting a handle on Marshfield. The first few weeks were so hard because there haven't been missioanries in the area for a long time, so we had to start at ground zero. But we truly have seen the hand of the Lord in our work in every aspect. Our days are so packed and sometimes we take a step back and realize that God truly is in the details and in reality, none of this would be Possible without Him!
Weekly highlights!
- we started teaching the cutest 18 year old girl named Katlund. She didnt grow up Christian, but sge is absorbing everything we teach her and already has such a love for Jesus Christ and His gospel. We were able to invite her to be baptized, and she said YES! Its so amazing to see how the light of Christ can truly change someones life.
- apparently sasquatch is a BIG deal around here
- Wednesday we were able to teach 7 lessons in one day! Busiest day ever but BIGGEST blessing.
- my cute aunt holly sent me a box of her famous Miss Krispie Treats and ALL THE MISSIONARIES LOVE THEM.
- we were able to go to an Amish dinner with some members in our ward and it was such a cool experince!
- we had a ward culture night and the Englebrettsens have heritage from NORWAY!! So they brought some Norwegian food. Who knew I would be eating Norwegian food in Wisconsin?!
- we try and talk to EVERYONE we see, so this usually results in WEIRD encounters, but we love it. We stopped and talked to this guy at a park that was kind if scary looking and i was a little nervous to talk to him, but after we said hi he wouldnt stop talking to us HAHA he had a really cool perspective on life and practically explained to us the plan of salvation but he isnt religious lol. The guy was definitely a little high, but its still cool to just listen to people in a loving way!
- for whatever reason the older people in our ward LOVE talking politics with us, and we have to kindly remind them that we cant talk about our views HAHAHA.
- our stake Presdient is in our ward and every sunday he wears a different bowtie
- Solomon came to church yesterday!! Solomon is such a miracle!! Quick story time:
Solomon used to talk to the missionaries but for whatever reason eveybody lost contact with him months ago. So after time, the missionaries slowly gave up on him. When i came into the area, I heard alot about Solomon but we didnt take any action to reach back out or anything. One day while doing facebook work I came across his profile and decided to request to be his friend. And he accepted!! So i told sister dozier I was going to message him to see if he'd like to hear a message about Jesus Christ. I had to pretend i didnt know who he was HAHA. I wasnt expecting anything from it because he hadn't responded to anyone in months, but within minutes he responded and pretty much told me how he has been struggling and really needs God in his life again. We were able to call and have a great discussion about building faith in God and Jesus Christ and the importance of it, especially in our trials!! Then he came to chruch yesterday! Wohoo! The spirit definitely guided all of this! Cant wait to see his relationship with Christ grow!
- bagged milk is a big thing here, just a little odd
- last p-day we went to the Beil's house and they taught us how to make ceramic temples from scartch!! Soo cool!
- every week we have a mission wide sunday night "family prayer" over zoom, and I was asked to say it IN NORWEGIAN!! Only a couple more weeks here in Marshfield!
Spiritual thought:
This week I studied the parable of the "Good Samaritan." And it really struck me different than it ever had before. In life, we all have people who we are less inclined to talk to, we have people who have wronged us, so why would we help? Why would we reach out?
Jesus Christ taught that we love EVERYONE. that doesn't exclude those we don't get along with, or those who are different.
Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, dwelt among those who were outcasts of society, people that were usually hated and mistreated by their fellow man. Jesus Christ is the PERFECT example of loving our neighbors and our fellow man. We are all beloved sons and daughters of God, nothing makes us higher or lower in Gods eyes, so why judge or mistreat others?
This week I have been in multiple situations where I usually wouldve walked away or felt uncomfortable talking to someone because of who they were. But I was able to remeber this story and remember Christs life. They would be the first He would run to, and stretch out His loving arms and embrace them, so why wouldnt I try and do the same?
This week i invite you all to try and be more like our Savior and truly love like He did and strive to see others for who they truly are, beloved sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father
GOD IS SO GOOD! I LOVE YOU ALL!!
