9 Months Down, 9 To Go! Søster Schneck Week 40
WHATS UP?!
These past few weeks have been CRAZY and so so good! I feel so blessed everyday that I have the opportunity to be Gods servant. I think my favorite thing ever is to see how the gospel changes lives and adds a beautiful light to peoples eyes. In Norway, it is definitely a long process to get people converted to the gospel and sometimes its discouraging because there isnt immediate progress. However, its been so cool to take a step back and see where so many of our friends started and to see where they are today. Although many are not ready to be baptized, their relationship to the Lord has grown immensely and I know that God is so proud of them. I just feel so blessed I get to help them along the way ♡
Here are some highlights from the past 2 weeks!
☆ i hit HALF WAY on my mission, cant even comprehend it. Time is FLYING
☆ we went to the vampires house to watch general conference and I got in the "Bite Book" she also has a coffin in her living room lol
☆ had splits in stavanger with Søster wilmott! She is from england and it took everything in me to not speak in a British accent
☆ the weather has been so nice and warm!! 50° and sunshine
☆ got lowkey bible bashed by this lutheran Preacher dude, and afterwards he prayed over us lol very interesting experience
☆ the schramms were out of town but gave us the keys to their boujee apartment and we had a General Conference watch party with our friends! (All in norwegain, thought my brain was going to explode)
☆ my super cool companion does "mauy thai" which is like boxing but 10x cooler. Lol but being the good companion I am, I was holding up my hands for her to punch and she clocked me right in the nose #comp unity
☆ we had Zone Conference! Always so so good! The missionaries in norway are top tier and i just love them all so much!
☆played the piano for a musical number for zone Conference and the gift of fingers kicked in
☆ we visited an inactive member that we had never met before and she is the nicest lady ever. A little too generous tho lol. She told us she had meat in the freezer she wanted to give us... and she pulls out a plastic bag that says "Alice" and goes " ill give you guys alice, she was my best sheep and she'll taste the best" HUH?! then she goes, "oh yeah that fur you were sitting on on the couch, that was alice too" bruh. Poor alice
☆ same lady pulled out the seal skin coats for us to try on, weirdest day ever
☆ sister narkter and I are trying to be more professional with the way we talk and not sound like 18 year old boys when we get home from our missions, so every time we say something unprofessional, we add a stair run to our morning work out. so far our total is 45
☆ i found my favorite book " the lite runner" in norwegian!.
☆ our friend Anna-Carin is getting baptized in 2 weeks! She is just soo excited! We had a lesson with her at her house and her daughter happened to be there too. She thought it was o interesting and they both came to chruch on Sunday and now her daughter wants to take the lessons!
☆ handyman elder schramm fixed our toilet seat WOOHOO
☆ rocked out to Les Mis with the YSA at family home evening lol
☆ general conference was AMAZING! WOW!
While at a members house, i saw that on her fridge hung a magnet with the poem "Foot prints in the Sand" it is one of my favorite poems and the message behind it is so comforting.
"Footprints in the Sand" By Mary Stevenson
"One night I had a dream–
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord
and across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints,
one belonged to me and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life.
This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way,
but I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
“I don’t understand why in times when I needed you most,
you should leave me.”
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never, never leave you
during your times of trial and suffering.
“When you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”
Sometimes in life we can feel like we are going through our toughest trials alone and thats simply not true. The Lord is with us on our journey every step of the way. He is there to guide us and comfort us, and when our trials are too much to bear, that is when He carries us. You are never alone!
I am so grateful for you all and love you so much!
