ALTA!! Søster Schneck Wk 66
Hey!! This week has been an adventure and full of so many tender mercies and my heart is so full! And... we made it to ALTA!!
Here are some highlights!
☆ left a piece of my heart in Trondheim, and it definitely wasnt an easy goodbye, but I feel at peace with where I'm at right now and I know this is exactly where I need to be!
☆ thursday I traveled all day and made it to Tromsø to meet my new companion, Sister Matthews!
☆ we got stranded in tromsø for 2 days because we currently don't have a place to stay in Alta. we grinded it out there and worked our hardest to make it productive when we weren't in our area HAHA
☆ Saturday we got a call from president telling us we are finally flying to Alta!! Yay! We took the tiniest 25 person plane and finally landed in our new home!
☆ we have been living in a hotel for the past few days as we've waited for an apartment, but will be moving in tomorrow (best hotel breakfast EVER)
☆ ive only been here for a few days, but I already love this place with my whole heart. The experiences that ive already had up here have changed my life and I feel so blessed to be here for the next few months.
☆ Saturday night we visited the Musa family. They are a family of 9 from Africa and a majority of them have recently been baptized! We just had so much fun and had a dance party with the little kids. I LOVE THEM! Our main priority here is to help out this family and help them progress in the gospel. They have already strengthened my testimony and I am excited to help them strengthen theirs.
☆ sunday we had the most beautiful and touching sacrament meeting I have ever attended. God KNEW I needed to be here and experience these things so I could grow closer to Him. We walked into church (which is a small rented room). There were only 8 of us there, 4 members and 4 missionaries, yet I have never felt the spirit more strong in a sacrament meeting in my entire life. As we were singing the sacrament hymn, I just started to cry. I could feel the love of Christ so strongly for all these people, and the love that these people had for our Savior. It was such a beautiful moment. Geir ( a 60 year old man with severe autism) was beautifully playing the piano, while his 80 year old mother was helping a newly baptized member to read the lyrics of the hymn, and there was just one elder preparing the sacrament, which was then passed to each of us one at a time. I was just overcome with the emense love and devotion that these individuals have for Jesus Christ, and even though they are so small in number, they have strong enough faith to show up and worship the God they love. After the sacrament we had testimony meeting and every person in that room bore their testimony of the savior. it will be a Sunday I will never forget.
☆ after church we went to a members house for her traditional after chruch grøtt! (It's like rice pudding) Made a BIG mistake by MIXING the grøtt after the cinnamon and sugar were on top. BIG NORWEGIAN NO NO whoops
☆ its definitely already been a little tough out here trying to get things going and finding things to do to fill our schedule, but I feel so blessed to be here.
